Taylor started in the world of football quite early. He played football in high school and also in college at the University of Miami. He aided his high school team with winning the Class 2A State Championship in 2000 and was an All American in 2003. He was drafted as No 5 in the overall pickup in 2004 by the NFL. Known to be a hard hitter, Taylor was nicknamed “Meast” by his teammates through the phrase “half man- half beast.”
Throughout his career, Taylor often faced problems and got into legal issues. At the very beginning of his professional career, he got fined $25,000 for skipping a mandatory symposium. In 2005 he was charged for assault after getting into a fight with a man while searching for his stolen all-terrain vehicles. He also got fined $17,000 by the NFL in 2006 for spitting in another player’s face.
In November 2007, intruders broke into the player’s Miami home. It is said that the intruders were four people between the ages of 17-20 years old.
Taylor was in his home along with his girlfriend Jackie Garcia and their daughter. They heard a noise in their living room and Taylor went to investigate. As he headed back toward the bedroom he was shot by the intruders. He died the next day on November 27 from his gunshot wounds.
