Bruce Lee is an infamous legend known to all. Whether it is through his films or his fighting style he became a pop icon of the 20th century and is still famous today.
Lee Jun-Fan was born on November 27, 1940. Even though he was born in San Francisco, California he was raised by his family in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Lee started in the film industry young and appeared in several films as a child actor with the guidance of his father.
Later, at the age of 18, Lee pursued his higher education at the University of Washington in Seattle. At the same time, he began teaching martial arts, something that would become his most iconic trait. His highly acclaimed feature films include Fist of Fury (1972), The Big Boss (1971), Way of the Dragon (1972) and Enter the Dragon (1973), among many others that Lee starred in. These films resulted in a great interest in the martial arts and the Chinese people in the West. It also changed their perception of the Asian population and the stereotypes associated with them.
The martial arts portrayed by Lee became more famous because of the twist that he put into it. After training in the form of Wing Chun, Lee stylized and combined it with other inspirations and created his style which he dubbed Jeet Kune Do ( The Way Of The Intercepting Fist). In the same way, Lee is said to be a prominent influence in developing the modern MMA (mixed martial arts) fighting, boxing, judo, and karate.
Lee died at a young of 32 years. According to autopsy reports, his brain had swollen greatly and his cause of death was declared as Cerebral Edema. Following his death on July 20th, 1973, he was buried in Lake View Cemetery, Seattle, Washington.
